Thanks for all the feedback!! I feel that I understand what we need to do now and we will be consistently working toward getting a fundamentally stronger swing and Dad will chill at the tournaments so we can all have some fun!!
After looking on Chris's site and seeing the examples, my DD's stance is probably a bit narrow and stiff still and she can coil more. I think we can fix the upper body part of the swing now that I better understand what is happening compared to what needs to happen. After reading all of this...
That would make sense. She has been pulling outside pitches instead of going opposite field. Not sure what arm-y or hitting from the top means for sure without looking it up, but sound like she is letting the wrong hand drive the swing.
One poster said they would like to see some video of training swings, so here it is. Thanks for all feedback! We did read the responses and watch a few videos before this session, so she tried to tweak herself a bit here already.
I discovered that she was stepping out and was having a hard time getting her out of it and had her go to a closed stance to try and counter act it...we will just work on stepping to the pitcher in practice reps. Additionally, should the step toe be pointed at the pitcher after the step or be...
I am the guilty party with the comment. I agree that it was not the best idea...words just popped out as I was feeling her frustration and wanted to give a quick tip. We both do have some frustration though and to put in context, she actually led her travel ball team in hitting last fall with...
My DD is in a slump and I cannot figure out what she is doing wrong for sure and am requesting some feedback from video taken this past weekend. I think she is starting early and then bringing her arms too quickly, but not sure as I am not an authority by any means. She is pulling everything...
When is the best time to get the step foot down? My DD in general is in mid step at the pitcher release point. She consistently gets it down before the ball gets to her though.
I have heard it is better to have the foot down by the time the pitcher releases the ball though and would like some...
BoardMember,
Very excellent analysis!! I and others also saw this arm problem while studying the crow hop problem. This is the first time I have ever filmed her. Part of the problem is that I catch her 99% of the time which makes it impossible to see everything. A pitching coach standing...
LOL....I can get her mad!! She normally throws harder than that. She was focusing on the proper footwork as a priority for the video. I told her she has to bring it during the games while maintaining good footwork. We also are working on the arm hitch. She recently went from an arm back...
I could not modify the thread title on the original thread alerting that new video had been added, so I created the new thread. I removed the new videos from the original thread. Do you see any improvement between day1 and day2 at all?
Tried to indicate in the original thread title that I added some more video, but could not get it to read out, so adding the new videos here so they will be seen. We tried to get the toe down with laces forward to eliminate the crowhop in day 2 as a priority. It looks like her arm spin is...
The pitching coach told us to turn the foot sideways and drag on the inner front corner of the pivot foot. I also see a lot of other pitchers do it. So you are saying the foot should stay straight pointed at home plate and leave the toe down and drag straight over?
Thx!!
She was lifting and replanting on the pump in the tournament. We added the rightward slide and pre turn of the pivot foot as a correction yesterday. The film was taken during the first session with the correction. I will try and get some more film today from another angle.
Hi Sluggers,
LOL...I had not heard the sound when I uploaded the clip...it is me...the amateur Dad pitching coach. I was trying to get her to throw hard to see if she would crowhop. What is she doing wrong and how can we make it better?
Thanks!!
