    Objective vs subjective stats.

The "League" function is iScore would let you do this. Each game can be assigned to one or more Leagues and stats can be calculated for just the games in a specified League (or combination of Leagues). It's a very powerful sort tool.

    How much data usage

From iScore forum on batter life and data usage, less than 300kb per game. http://iscoreforum.com/ • View topic - Battery life?

    EvoShield and other thumb guards?

Jay Weaver had a good blog post a few months back on how glove position can lead to thumb injuries. It's not always about the padding in the glove. October 2012 – Tip of the Month | The New England Catching Camp

How do you encourage kids to get started with catching?

Catcher's are a unique breed and tend to self-select. Start slowly. Catcher is a physically and mentally draining position. It's hot, dirty, hard work and there's no time for daydreaming or picking flowers. For newcomers, just give them an inning or two behind the plate and rotate someone...

    Score keeping software

I've worked with both and use iscore now. Best $10 I've ever spent. Instead of hours of work after the game, stats are produced instantly. I ended up with iscore because I like its stat package better and found it handled more game variables. Gamechanger gives you some interesting hitting...

    Tanel (or Other) Cleats?

DD has been wearing the Tanels for 6 years now. She won't wear anything else. Very comfortable. She's a catcher and they hold up well.

    Travel Programs in No. Virginia

Other posters have you on the right path for teams. I recommend Diamond Sports Training for hitting instruction. We have been going there for five years now. Large indoor facility in nearby Sterling with several good instructors. PM me if you want specific names. Diamond Sports Training

    Online Scorebook

Another vote for iScore. $10 upfront, but parents view for free. Generates great stats.

    Who gets the error?

For what it's worth, this is from the NCAA Softball Rules and Interpretations Book SECTION 22—NO ERROR IS CHARGED No error is charged to a fielder in the following situations: 14.22.1 When a ball is misplayed because of being lost in the sun or lights, blown by the wind, or if the fielder slips...

Catching with a first baseman's glove

Just attended the Be the Best Softball Coaches Clinic in Cherry Hill and Ken Ericksen (South Florida head coach and national team asst) said all his catchers use 1B mitt. I'm just starting to look into this for my 13 yo, but it looks like a growing trend. I'm interested in hearing from anyone...
