Ideas for a "study guide" for a middle school team?
That's how my DD1's high school team was. They went to the state semis 2 of her 4 years, and lost in the regional finals the other 2 years, mainly because almost all of them played travel ball. Thanks for the responses. I won't know until the first practice how many have played before. I know several of the 6th graders played on a league (usssa) team I helped coach last year (in between high school games and practices), they at least know the basics. I've been helping coach our local high school team for the last few years. This year I'm dropping down to middle school assistant, because my youngest daughter is starting middle school. Not so I can play "daddy ball" and make sure she gets on the field, but so I won't have to miss her games...- jofus13

Catcher signal improper?
If you have a pitcher that is afraid to pitch the inside corner when a batter crowds the plate, then you probably have a pitcher that is going to get hit a lot, since the batter has effectively taken half the strike zone away. DD pitching out growing Dads catching abiliities
I played catcher (baseball) growing up, and played slow-pitch softball for 17 years, so I'm comfortable with a glove. Almost got ejected from a game this afternoon
Was the strike zone the same for both pitchers (and for all batters)? If so, I may not like it, but as long as an ump is consistant from batter to batter and for both teams, I can live with it. What's the going rate for a PC where you are?

Heh....well, my DD did indeed pitch a no-hitter shutout in her first (and only) varsity start last week (she is a freshman). Best way to set up a change up
My DD has become pretty good at picking up on changeups, by watching the pitcher setting her grip, etc. Obviously some are worse than others about this, but it happens a lot. A few things... We have the same argument periodically here in WV about private schools, more in football than any other sport.
