How many games/tournaments did your dd play in this year?
I'm thinking 70-80 games is probably plenty. I think the Law of Diminishing Returns has to fall in there somewhere. First Gallon of Ice Cream tastes pretty good, but beyond that it isn't quite as tasty. LOL Of course, I say that is plenty for the girl (not parent) who loves softball and enjoys...- Dudley

What to do?
Drop back 10 and punt! First of all Coaching mistake one - don't promise anyone anything. Work hard and earn your spot. Second encourage kid to want to play other positions. Give it some time - 1st year team your daughter should mention to HC that she would like some more circle time...- Dudley

Coach Rant
Dang, I thought this was one of my parents ranting about my coaching last weekend! LOL Crap happens the quicker you get over it the better. Move on crazy things happen in sports..... IE like the best team doesn't always win:)- Dudley

So, What do you expect your coach to do?
I am with cannonball! HS coaching is pretty much a thankless job. I would expect the TB coach to give my dd the extra time and experience that she wants and needs to be a great HS player. I expect her HS coach to play the best 9 and support her and her teammates in becoming better players...- Dudley

How Much Buy-In Does a Coach Need?
I think one thing that hasn't been discussed is $ and time. Level A to C is in many cases about $ and time spent. Much like DI to DIII, there i am sure players at D II and D III that could be playing D I! With that said the coach needs to be honest with the amount of money and time he is...- Dudley

12u winter practice frequency & intensity
Interesting FrozenRope this is just what happened with us last summer. Started our own team in the fall and played our first tournament last weekend. Went 3-1 lost in semifinal. No warmup!!!
You guys all seem to be whining! How many of you coach for real in real game situations? Don't get me wrong warm up is important, but sometimes the wheels come of the cart quickly. Falling out with PC
Run, run, run.... I am an elementary teacher and the father of a 12 moving to 14u TB as a #1. I have done most of the pitching instruction myself and used this board and others for my knowledge. Shorts spurts are best for this age. There are times we only get 15-20 minutes in of practice. IMO...- Dudley
