I can only speak for 10U as this is where the basics of softball come alive (plus this is what I coach). Positional play and understanding situational defense is often hard with this age group because they are still worried about what went on in school for the day or their parents' thoughts...
I coach 10U, and I can tell you this age needs to work on focus more than anything. Half of the time they will cross their legs or pretend they are a pitcher. It is rare to have a full team of fully focused players. Generally the most focused will be your pitcher, catcher, and 1B. Your biggest...
Not trying to be pedantic, but "further from the body" is not the same as directly below. Also it doesn't say what part of the elbow this measurement "from the body" is taken from, the inside, the outside, etc. So saying IR is "illegal" is just trying to drum up a response like mine. ;)

Player should be ejected and banned from playing. Coach/AD fired by ISD as this is not only allowed but seems to be encouraged conduct as it has happened multiple times. It has no place in sports and an example needs to be made.
This has made me so mad all day long watching it...
It is very common in 10U where my DD plays for the 3B to go with the runner and the SS to cover third. This is just an adjustment for the age level as throws aren't as accurate and runners aren't as fast.
My DD's team (10U) takes mid-Nov-Jan off, mainly because all the dads want to go hunting and the weather isn't as good. We practice once a month just for team-building and to get the girls back together. During that time though, they all practice at home on fundamentals, develop their strength...
Hello! Third year softball coach, and first year as a travel ball team coach. Dad of two girls, one who is on our 10U team and the other is 6 years behind so I'll be doing this for years to come and I'm really excited about it. I'm looking forward to learning a lot here!
