Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

Pitchers are like the cheese in a mousetrap; they initialize the whole chain reaction. It all starts with them. However, you can't remove any pieces of the mousetrap (the board, the spring, the latch, etc.) and still have a functioning mousetrap, cheese or not. Every piece must be there for...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

How did i manage to avoid all the intense game pressure while being a pitcher for several years? Your point about athletes fading from their sport because they can't perform under pressure enforces my point as much as your own. The pressure broke them, which I was suggesting could happen...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

Knights, I pitched quite a bit growing up, and even threw a no-hitter once. Not to brag, just to point out i'm not clueless when it comes to pitching in games vs practices. I have quite a bit of personal experience. This is how i see the situation; There is a BELIEF held by many that...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

good point with the pitching coach Tom. We thought about it but maybe we will actually call. Yes, she actually throws 7 different pitches, not just locations, which it think is ridiculous. OK to practice them, but crazy to force them in game situations before they are mastered.

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

Tons of good thoughts here but most we have already considered. We are almost 100% sure that telling him he can't call pitches anymore will be all it takes for him to leave the team. When he found out he wasn't a coach last year, he was so pissed that he wasn't going to let her play for the...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

Dad's pitch calling doesn't matter in most games, only close ones. she pitched 25 innings, and two other girls each pitched 16 last fall, so she had less than half the innings. She also only pitched 2 out of 5 innings in our championship game, which he almost managed to lose by calling pitches...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

grcsftball, of course the wins mean something. We have put a ton of work into this team and are very good as a result. The parents, coaches and players all have high expectations for this season. Personally, i'm willing to sacrifice that to be rid of the situation, so you can't say that's the...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

Last year in the spring we split the teams up, and i essentially refused to have this father/daughter on my team. I gave the excuse that we can't have both pitchers on the same team, which is true, but really i just refused them. My team did better than the team with this pitcher and went...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

Good comments guys. I've been arguing with Trojans29 that we need tell this guy to take a hike for a couple years now, but as he pointed out, the only reason we haven't is because it isn't fair to her. We've been coaching the same girls since they were 8 and they are a close group from a small...

Dealing with a delusional parent who thinks he is a coach

This will be my 5th year coaching the same girls. We went 15-0 and won our fall league last year. I get along so well with my assistant that i call him my co-head coach. Everything is great, except for one parent who is living in a parallel universe. This person did not grow up playing...
