Well neither is true. However our girls understand what it means and how it works, but the most important part is having first and third base coaches that understand and recognize when infield fly is in effect. They should be communicating and helping their baserunners with game situation...
Even at the 10u level we have covered when infield fly rule is in effect. During situational defense with live runners on we hit a few accidental popups to make the point again. Probably most importantly as a base coach we remind our runners when the situation arises that IF is in effect. If...
I think for the most part homeruns are miss hits by design. At least in baseball if you get on plane with any straight pitch and square it up you should hit it back to the pitchers release point. I think about how we teach bunting, barrel above knob, this makes miss hits more likely to go...
As someone who grew up playing baseball, and has too much free time to think I always thought of it as
1. I interfere with someone's ability to make a play on/with the ball. In this case the batter trying to hit the ball
2. I obstruct someone's ability to move.
Have taken my dd to Rick's clinics 3 times. I would highly recommend attending if possible. A lot of great information on friday night and great instruction on Saturday.
I unfortunately am about to have a similar conversation so I'll pass along what my wife told me. Depending on what your issue is, ours is the philosophy we were told isn't what we see being executed. Her advice was to ask in question form if something had changed with the direction of the...
A quick check of videos of Osterman, Abbott and Ueno I see Osterman under, Abbott on the side and Ueno on top of the ball at the top of their backswing. Looks like it's a preference.
Thanks for the responses. I may have poorly worded my question. I understand the scap load as the upper body effort to resist the lower body/hip rotation. I was thinking the bow could help her feel the muscles activated during this.
I will try wringing a rag with her and see if she can get...
I would appreciate anyones thoughts on if they think this would work. I am trying to explain scap loading and the feel of the top hand pulling back on the handle to my dd. I was thinking a good way for her to get the feel was having her draw her bow and hold it. Then having her relax her arm...
We have a membership for the hitting vault. When we first started she had basically no extension. I have tried to emphasize extension through the zone, and just let the follow through happen. I have a video of a little softtoss we did tonight.
The swing is not nearly as aggressive, and I...
I'll try moving the tee deeper, I'm all for shortening her stride too. As far as game pitching she makes contact but not a lot of power as of yet. We've only really been working on hitting for about 2 months. So I do still see quite a bit of regression at times. BP before game will look good...
I think the head dip may have to do with the tee. I'll try weather permitting to get a video of some softtoss tonight and see if it's still there.
Want to thank everyone for their comments and input.
Thanks, we're trying right now to get reps off the tee and with soft toss without learning bad habits that we'll have to fix later. I will definitely review lower half mechanics
My daughter has been working hard on her swing. While I think she is on the right path I was looking for any advice on where to focus. Thanks in advance.
