I agree looks like an out to me. But I could see an argument that C was in line of runners path before she received the ball. Though I'm with Inde, I think this should be an out and not obstruction.
That's probably called obstruction in an NCAA game, but as the umpires here tell us all the time, the NCAA game barely resembles the game at any other level.
I'm in agreement with the group that this play is nothing but an out.
Just an added wrinkle that NCAA throws into the obstruction rule....If the ball clearly beats the runner, the out stands and obstruction is ignored. From what I see in the video, that would probably be the call in an NCAA game
There was a video posted here a couple months ago where the runner was farther from home plate and the catcher was less obstruction-y and the obstruction call was made and everyone seemed to agree it was the right call based on the bad rule.
