Haha,... Got it. Thanks!SportScout posted a link to a YouTube video of a coach teaching a group of young baseball players very poor throwing mechanics. You aren't missing anything by not being able to see it.
Thank you Eric F and Greenmonsters for your warm and gracious reply's. This is a video from a YouTube instructor... some of his other drills are quite good. I'm learning like everyone else. Keep up the positive correction.
My response was only related to the content of the video you posted. His other drills might be excellent, but this one is not. It's not a personal attack on you. By all means, keep learning!
It's just a matter of opinion bro... maybe I'm not in the right place but I'm coaching 7-8yr olds. The video I posted is a simple drill for early arrives to the sport, some who have never thrown a ball. For me, having a 7/8yr old fumble around with a water bottle is only going to silliness. This is an open environment for everyone to share and learn... snarky comments like 'waste of time' doesn't benefit anyone. My hope is maybe folks will find the water bottle drill helpful and maybe some will find the one I posted helpful.
A 7-8 yr old will get the water bottle drill and 1) have a great time learning to throw 2) with sound biomechanics that 3) will serve them well as long as they play the game and 4) won't damage their arm. Calling the drill shown in the video a waste of time was kind; also true, and perhaps snarky, would've been noting that it won't achieve any of these 4 important objectives.
IME, if you take the necessary time to practice and understand the water bottle drill before you try to teach it, any kid with the remotest interest in learning to throw won't be fumbling around!
Thanks All-Star Coach.
