In the first game in the 9th inning...was Runyon hit by that pitch?...Video showed that she clearly was not hit by the pitch, but she sold it like a Used Car Salesman... My DDs response of "frickin' cheater", put a smile on my face...
Also in the first game, in the 9th inning...was that last batter really walked, or was it a strike?...the commentators said, "Sara G. lost that game on a strikeout"...
It doesn't matter now, if you can't score runs, it's all pointless...
In our house, we were all on the edge of our seats for the entirety of both games...Thanks for a great season Minnesota!!

Funny but the commentators do not make the calls on the field... I am not saying the umpires were correct in the call and I have rarely if ever seen a game where I have agreed with every single call an umpire ever made... My point still stands, MN did not lose that game in the 9th inning and they cannot blame it on the umps (well they can but hey its what losers generally do)... Bottom line, MN could not beat a middle of the pack SEC school, as a matter of fact, they could not even score 1 run on a middle of the pack SEC school...

The umpire did not cause Minnesota to go 7 for 54 against Alabama. They hit .254 as a team during the regional which will not help you advance.

So in your guys opinion, was Runyon hit by the pitch in the 9th inning? yes or no?

In your opinion, did Sara G. walk the batter in the 9th inning for a run to end the game? yes or no?

I don't think she was hit but I do believe she walked her. There is a great picture in the catching thread of Minnesota's catcher on that pitch. She is set up so far behind the plate the umpire probably couldn't get a good view of the strike zone without binoculars.

My 2 cents is MN deserved a host seeding and they still would have been vulnerable to being eliminated due to their weak schedule not preparing them.

I agree that being waaaaay too tentative at the plate is what sunk them.
Ive only watched the 1st game so far but,
Groenewegen pitched great. Easily good enough to win.
MINN defense also made some really exceptional plays behind her (OF especiallly!)
MINN had bases loaded twice and couldnt score. So frustrating!

I get the "patient" batting approach for the 1st 3 innings, maybe.
Osorio is known for sketchy command. She set a school record for walks in a single game this season. (11?)
BUT that Osorio didnt show up for this particular game. Her command was good, and MINN didnt adjust.
Simple as that.

MINN had plenty of chances to win that game, and couldnt.

I will say, it was pretty special to watch these two top pitchers battle in this game. They BOTH put on a clinic!
