I'm finding out a lot about this HS softball world. Be ready yours is coming soon.

I got a taste of it with my older DD. She played JV as a freshman before she hung up the cleats in favor of pom-poms. The amount of bad advice heard at every game was pretty painful.

My DD - who had never pitched during her rec ball seasons - was asked to pitch for the JV team. She put in some work, and became serviceable fairly quickly. In an effort to help - and with the blessing of the HC - I worked a few times with the team's primary catcher on proper stances and receiving details. Just as soon as I got her using and understanding the benefits of a decent no-runners stance, the HC instructed her to be up on her toes because it would "make her faster to get up for a passed ball"... It was painfully comical that my 14yo DD wished her 9yo sister could catch for her in games.

Whatever you learned in TB...forget it once HS ball starts. Whatever position your kid plays on her TB team...forget it. My DD is a catcher who did not pick up her fielder's glove the entire Fall Showcase season. She is playing SS for her HS team. The last time she spent time at SS was first year 12U Rec ball. I wish she was playing C. The team would at least have a chance of throwing out players trying to steal.
