which position gets more action

Does anyone have good stats on which position gets more action. 3rd,SS or 2nd. 12u level would be nice.

The answer is going to be "it depends"....on your pitching, the level of competition you face, age of the girls, ect.

I do know on our 18U team it is 2nd base and on some days they seem to get everything hit to them.

Slower / average pitcher or slappers at bat will see more hits to left side. Fast pitching will see more hits to right side because hitters are late. 2nd better be your energizer bunny. Backing up first, second, and just fielding their position keeps them busy.

What I've seen in 12U as a 1st year 12U group as related to our teams ability currently
Higher level opponent than us = LF, SS, CF & 3rd
Similar level opponent than us = 2nd, SS, CF & RF
Lessor level opponent than us = 2nd & 1st

I ran the stats for our 14U team last year between SS & 2B because I had a hard time explaining to a player and parent that I wanted Suzie at 2B because she was the better fielder and 2B saw more action. We are a strong team with very good pitching, and typically play similar competition. Our 2B was involved in 20% more plays than the SS. Take out steal attempts and the number jumps even higher.
