If the coach won't address the problem the HU should.

Why should I as an umpire be responsible for a spectator and not the HC? Is that parent not affiliated with the team? Shouldn't the HC be responsible for his players and parents? Or better yet, why don't the "adults" in the stands speak up and self-police or if they really believe something is wrong, they go and get the TD or UIC?

What if my opinion differs from yours? What if I don't believe things being uttered in the stands are impacting a game? Or, what if my decision is to eject all of the spectators in the stands to insure no more interruptions? Would disagree with my interpretations of control of a game?

I have yet had to eject a parent. I suppose there is some scenario that could occur that might lead me to that, but I can't think of one at the moment mostly because as MTR already pointed out, I typically ignore what I deem as unhelpful remarks from any spectator. Furthermore, if I ever do, I would be wrong in doing so. I have lots of other tools that can fix the issue.

I watched that video. I believe my fellow official made a mistake by even turning around. I heard absolutely nothing that would have caused me personally to turn around or even address what was said.

If you have multiple games where you have witnessed a PU ejecting a spectator, I would charge that it's likely both a cultural and training issue from wherever you see this occurring regularly. If local rules state a PU has that authority, then so be it. You won't get me to agree with it though.

It is inappropriate for me to point out simple facts that have occurred? Why? Because my opinion differs from yours? I have simply stated that I have seen multiple occasions where spectators have been thrown out by an umpire, for multiple reasons. You claim that it isn't your responsibility and that you have enough to do on the field (your words not mine).

How much training have I had on being an umpire? Not sure why or how that is relevant to the original topic. I have never claimed to be an umpire, nor have I exhibited signs of being an arrogant one either. When you live your life from words between covers of the ASA book then I guess you will have a different opinion on some subjects. For most of us who follow the game we respect the umpires who call the games. We may disagree with some of their calls, but I still respect them. I certainly don't need an umpire to babysit me, I'll be okay. But I do expect that when someone is altering the game being played on the field (sign stealing by parents, vulgar words towards players, etc) that the HU will control that situation. It happens all the time in rec league and ASA tournaments where I live, and is expected and appreciated.

I have seen umpires eject fans , but I really dont believe that is their responsibility. Their focus should only pertain to the game on the field. I tell my players all the time that what happens or is said outside the fence has no bearing on our game. Dont pay attention to it. It is just noise

What is the sense of having a rulebook if you're not going to follow it? Let all the umpires use their best judgement and see what kind of consistency you get. Best judgement will run the gamut i.e., I can recognize pornography when I see it. An umpire that finds team cheers distracting could toss the entire bench. All infielders have to wear a fielder's mask. Shaved bats are allowed because they don't improve performance that much and the wind is blowing in. The concession stand operator is tossed because they served a spectator an over-priced hot dog that was half cooked. The strike zone will vary for each team based on ability and score. The look back rule could be overlooked because it is stupid. No running on dropped third strikes because the catcher isn't feeling well. Your kid is tossed because they're running around disturbing other spectators. Your dog is tossed because its not a cat. Anarchy.

Next time? I dont get ejected. I just said I dont think it is something that the ump should be worrying about.

I have never been ejected. I don't think an umpire worries about the parents until they cross the line. When they disrupt the game then they get involved.
