That was my understanding to start with.I though it just meant teams can’t “play down” in the fall

Look at the age chart I posted. That was my understanding to start with.
So for USA tournaments at least now girls with September birthdays will be the oldest girls on the team instead of January birthdays, and August will be the worst month to be born in .I think that girls born between September 1 and December 31 could play an additional year in the Division that they are currently in. They can move up as well. This would be for USA Softball. If travel tournaments don’t follow, it will be confusing and it would make some girls ineligible for certain tournaments.
My daughters late November birthday isn't looking so bad now.So for USA tournaments at least now girls with September birthdays will be the oldest girls on the team instead of January birthdays, and August will be the worst month to be born in .
Right..like school ball except unlike school ball you won’t be able to red shirt kids born in July,Aug (unless they start doing grade exceptions like baseball)So for USA tournaments at least now girls with September birthdays will be the oldest girls on the team instead of January birthdays, and August will be the worst month to be born in .
So starting next year for USALook at the age chart I posted.
This is how I am looking at that. That chart is for the 2023 season (eg current) I believe (this is where I am a bit confused) . If this is true and it was applied for the 2023 season, which it isn’t going to be, kids who are currently in 7th and 8th grade would be 14u and so on and my original age group to grade map was correct…Eg there are kids in 9th grade on DD’s team (2nd year 14u under current age groups) right now who wouldn’t be able to play 14u because they are turning 15 this month, etcSo starting next year for USA
1 SEP 2013- 31 AUG 2014 Birthday would make you 1st year 10u
1 SEP 2011 - 31 AUG 2012 Birthday would make you 1st year 12u
1 SEP 2010 - 31 AUG 2011 Birthday would make you 1st year 14u
Is that how you read it?
So those girls are only going to get to play one year of 14u because of the rule change, or are some girls going to get an extra year? This is how I am looking at that. No they are 08’s and this is currently their second year of 14u so they are fine. It is the kids who are currently 1st year 14u kids with the current age groups (09’s) but who are currently in 8th grade who are going to only get 1 year of 14u when the USA age groups come in to play for the 2024 season..at least that is my understanding. So those girls are only going to get to play one year of 14u because of the rule change, or are some girls going to get an extra year?
If you are right and that is the case there will be a group of girls in ever age class that will have to move up early, and only get one year in which ever age group they are in. I thought it was the other way and the girls born between Sep 1 and Dec 31 would get an extra year.No they are 08’s and this is currently their second year of 14u so they are fine.
