My DD has the evoshield shirt and wears it every game. She had a couple of liners come back at her in 12U, then we moved up to 14U and WOW the difference is crazy, definitely wearing protection, face and chest!

This is really too bad and really a freak accident. I have heard about cases like this before with a baseball too (also chest). :/

I have indoor softballs for gymnasiums. They are not softies.

Indoor balls with synthetic covers and stitches are softies. Not foam balls or wiggles. A softie could take you off your feet. I would not pitch them to my ten year old without a screen.
