Oh, I quite agree. The emphasis should always be on getting the kids outside with friends having fun. It's kind of sad to see the sharp dropoff in participation in youth sports once kids hit high school.
At the WCWS all the players are given a certificate acknowledging their participation!Participation trophies are for parents so they don't have to admit that their kid sucks at sports. The players after a certain age know that participation trophies are silly.

Address as a team? Individually ? How about the players that don't have this problem?? Subject them to the issue. If your best player are confident studs should you subject them to the weakness that other may have? I guess the the most confident studs might care less about the weaker minded players. Probably not.

Saw this post and I've been watching videos of her for over a half hour at this point. Really good stuff.It's self-deprecating. Sorry, had to do it.
And the "33% Rule" along with other Sue Enquist videos should be required viewing and discussion for every young athlete (and team).
