Sorry not a rules question but a scoring question.

Runner on third no outs, batter hits a fly ball to center. Runner goes to tag up, centerfield drops the ball, runner scores. Error on centerfielder, but does batter get an RBI? Normally on errors batter doesn’t get the RBI but runner would have tagged up and batter would have get sac fly and RBI.

If the scorer fees the runner would have scored anyway then it’s still a sac fly, rbi, and error on the CF.

Hitters can get RBI’s on errors if they would have scored anyway. Usually when their is 2 outs is when they don’t get the rbi cause without the error the run would not have scored.

Towny's correct.

Another example of error/RBI: Runner on third, one out, ground ball to the 2B who is playing regular depth, so the runner is off on contact. She bobbles the ball, batter-runner safe, runner scores. E4, RBI.

On the other hand, 2B is playing in with 1 out, ground ball, runner holds, 2B makes a wild throw to first and runner scores, likely no RBI.

It's pretty simple: Did the run score because of the error? If so, no RBI. Sometimes it's pretty obvious, other times the scorer has to use some judgment: 2B playing in with 1 out, hard but routine grounder right at her, runner goes on contact, 2B bobbles the ball. In this case, the scorer has to use judgment.
