Runner on third gets lead on the pitch in foul territory, ball is popped up foul right at the fence. When the ball was hit the runner turned to go back to the bag and was still in foul territory, the third baseman who was playing up turns to go to the popup runs into the runner in foul territory. She collides with the runner in foul territory and doesn't get to the pop up which falls to the ground. Umpire calls runner out for interference/obstruction, nothing was intentional as both players turned at the same time and never saw each other. Was this the correct call.

This call was made at an ASA A class 16u national.

You may fortunate the batter wasn't also ruled out. If the umpire ruled the ball could have been caught with ordinary effort sans the interference, both runner and batter could have been ruled out. 8.7.J.1.Effect.F

Interesting!
I had the exact same question I was going to look into (ASA 18U)where the baserunner was taking a lead off 3B and when the 3B went for a foul pop-up, she ran into the BR returning to the base. No Interference was called and appeal was rejected.
