Open how far?

How far should the pitchers hips be open? Perpendicular to home plate/one straight line or should they be slightly angled 45 deg. Fellow father met with a female coach that feels part of his daughters control issues were due to getting too open straight line. Hill house DVD says one leg hp shoulder?

45 to 52 degrees acording to the data collected at the 96 olympic games, seems to be pretty consistant with most high level pitchers.

When in open pos catcher should see only one leg, hip, and shoulder.

Too hard to get most kids to really think about a degree number while pitching. If it's a right handed pitcher and a right handed catcher, I have the pitcher line up her front side with the bare hand side of the catcher's body. Adjust accordingly for different pitchers/catchers. Alternatively, the ARM, not the body, should be on the power line if that's an easier visual.
