There is room for good movies about religion etc. But I usually find them either sappy, factually incorrect/biased or just plain bad. The last two good ones were The Passion of The Christ and Religulous, good for completely different reasons of course.

But the best was Monty Python's Life of Brian.

If this thread is copasetic then perhaps I could start a new one recommending the new PBS series "Your Inner Fish"? Just let me know.

I haven't read the book and am just making assumptions, but I assumed that the story is not about religion and that was what was troubling to the preacher dad.

Well with all the crap Hollywood turns out for movies by actors that want to push their, let's say for a lack of better words freedom taken, socialist views. The same actors that want to limit our freedoms, make money running around shooting people in their movies, then tell us that we should get rid of the amendment between the 1st & 3rd. Then also leave out the name of the most important person in the movie Noah! I'm sure they make a good profit on those movies. So maybe, just maybe it would be nice to know that there is something bigger then us down here on earth, no matter what god you believe in.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. But I don't need a movie based on OBE's or alien abductions to know there is something bigger than us. I have a book for that.
