I have been through this recently with my DD.
Here is how we fix it. Place an item in front of rubber and in front of lead foot
That is about 3-4 inches high. Have her drive and pitch forcing the lead foot up and over item. I use the end of a cone as our item.
By forcing the lead foot up then out will put some of her weight on her drag toe and stop the leaping issue.
The drive should be up and out. This drill works for DD and we use it every session to reinforce the up and out move.
