Hey folks,
This is my first post and it happens to be a question. For background, I never played baseball and my wife never played softball. So we are learning through our kids age 12 DD/10 DS.
2-3 years ago, i bought my daughter a Rawlings Heart of the Hide softball glove. Figured quality would save me money long term, and it was on clearance, so i pulled the trigger.
The glove is been great. She worked her way from right field to starting short stop (a ton of private lessons helped pave that way since we have no idea how to coach our kids).
I told her when she gets to 8th grade, i'll get a new glove and not hold back but i'd like to see this glove last her till then.
However, i see her slipping up when we practice. She blames her glove, i tell her its not the glove its her losing focus, etc... (typical dad/daughter exchange).
But i looked at her glove today and it doesn't look so hot. She is a typical kid that doesn't go out of her way of taking care of her stuff, but doesn't try to abuse it on purpose either. But this glove has been thrown in softball bag, left in the trunk, left god knows where, etc.. so not the best of care.
What do you think? Is this glove recoverable? Do you think a relacing would sort it out? Or do i need to do recondition/get a new glove, etc..?
If you suggest relacing, is there a mail-to-place i can send to? We're in north Jersey.
Thanks. I appreciate the guidance.
