If someone had perfect mechanics what types of workouts would be beneficial in increasing batspeed and or power. (No mechanical Changes).

I have heard people talk about...

1) underloading bp
2) overloading bp
3) medicine ball throws
..... (anything else)...

Just looking for opinions and reports of actual gains during certain workouts. Does underloading/overloading ...medicine ball throws work ? Does increasing flexibility help much ? What do mlb players do ?

Just looking for thoughts and opionions.

Thx,
BatDragon.

We do swing sets...lighter to heavier bats...10 reps each, 4 bats. 3 sets. Medicine ball rotating the torso - back to back with partner. throwing the medicine ball. Would love to do the tire drill though. P90x plyo. Planks.

We went to a local golf course and they had a mound of tires and wanted to give us more than one just to get rid of them.
Warning...after doing it for awhile, your DD may think her bat is too light.

There is NO substitute for improving hitting mechanics to improve bat speed and power. Even if a hitter has sound hitting mechanics, there is always room for more improvement to the load, the independent rotation of the lower and upper body, extension, and follow through. Even professional hitters continue to focus on mechanics first and then strength and conditioning for improved bat speed.
All this being said, weight training and conditioning will have a positive impact on bat speed, just not as much as great mechanics.

Here's a little strength/conditioning drill that will help anyone in a rotational movement sport. First saw this demo'd by Anika Sorenstram when she was training to compete in some men's golf tourneys.

Yes... these make sense.

It seems that workouts must exist that allow the body to store more potential energy or increase productivity in the kinetic chain.

For example... perhaps plyometric pushup routines will give the scaps the ability to hold more energy during the scap load.

Or stretching the hip flexors will provide more torque in the kinetic chain.

Just looking for thoughts and opinions.

Some posters really need to understand what will cause an injury to a female if they are at a young age in terms of the wrists.
There have been numerous posts with medical reasons why some drills will cause injury. Even a TCB ball has a warning not to hit it more than a selected number of times.
