HS Opening Day in GA

August is hot, but September and October are two of the best weather months in GA. School ball also means no weekend games, which is great during football season!

Moving the season from Spring to Fall certainly makes HS ball much more relevant with respect to recruiting.

This was certainly true in our case. DD decided to only play TB with her local friends, on our B level team that never played an event in front of college coaches. Her recruitment consisted of coaches coming to watch her in high school games, and college camps only. She would not have been recruited without high school ball.

So How did everyone do the first week of the season?? We won our first game which was a region game 8 to 0 in 5 innings against Adairsville.

We play our first game tonight vs. West Forsyth, our second biggest rival. Hate that they is our opening game and DD has only practiced with the team 3 times....

DD's HS team isn't playing yet. We just had our first parent's meeting last night, where we found out which team (V or JV) all the players were on and started to pass out the information on websites, fundraising, etc.

They're getting new jerseys this year. Unfortunately, there is a senior with DD's favorite softball jersey number and another senior has DD's HS jersey number from last year. Seniority goes by graduation year, not length of time on varsity. DD ended up with a new number, but...one shirt is a size she can wear, the other shirt is too small for her. I figure we'll have her wear another shirt under it and just leave it open down the front.

I am willing to bet money that will be the shirt the coaches decide to have the girls wear for the team picture.
