Throw every day since it's a natural motion. Forget what PC teaches. Adjust pregame warmup to wrist flips. If in doubt ask HS coach as they are all knowing.

Hmmm...I think Phathead is being a little sarcastic.

WHAT TO DO DURING A HS PRACTICE

Probably the best thing to work on is control. Control requires a lot of reps. If a girl and/or her catcher will really focus on control, a girl can really improve.

Working on pitches or speed isn't a good idea. Most HS coaches have no clue how to do it correctly.

As to drills, a HS coach should let the pitcher do whatever drills her PC has her do.

Coaches allow the pitchers different amounts of time. Usually, somewhere between 30 minutes and 45 minutes of *practice*.

BEFORE A GAME

Warming up before a game ideally is really up to the pitcher. Usually, the coach is too busy with other things to "hold the pitcher's hand" and make her warm up.

Usually, a kid needs to warm up for about 20 minutes. She then needs to get her breaking pitches working.

A great deal of the warm up is about "getting her mind right" for pitching. She has to start focusing on pitching and the game.

BEFORE THE FIRST GAME

There comes a point where a pitcher has to stop worrying about form and start pitching.

As the first game gets closer, the pitcher has to focus more on control rather than speed or movement.

The reality is that it doesn't matter a hoot in h*** to a head coach (TB, HS or college) whether you DD throws HE or IR. It doesn't matter to the coach about leg drive. It doesn't matter to the coach about brush resistance.

The only thing that matters is getting the batters out. If a pitcher doesn't do that, she won't pitch. It is that simple.

How does a pitcher consistently get batters out? Mainly control...being able to consistent put the ball at the edge of the strike zone...both in the strike zone at the edge, and *out* of the strike zone at the edge.

If you have a pitcher that has decent speed, a change-up and good control, she'll get a lot of batters out at the HS level.
