I had to add the IP's galore part to keep this post in the pitching forum
I was waiting for someone else to comment but haven't seen it yet surprisingly so gonna go ahead and post.....
Did anyone watch Game 1 and 2 of the Georgia/Florida game this weekend? WOW!!!! I need to go back and look but I don't know how many IP's were called on a certain pitcher from Florida AND the fact Georgia hit 3 home runs in a row on the same pitcher. Yes, 3 batters in a row hit one over the fence in Game 1. Not to mention that the same pitcher from Florida got pulled and started Game 2 and then went on to get run-ruled in game 2.
I say all this not to point fingers or anything like that. I know we can have active discussions on IP's and we have a thread that I believe is the most responded to in the history of DFP about this same Florida pitcher. I am not here to say good or bad but we all know a duck is a duck and not the Oregon type.
All that said, I found myself wishing this girl had the correct mechanics and pitched legally. She would have been just fine and probably still very dominant and not have the recently found pressure and frustration which IMO is completely warranted. Yes, I am glad IP's are getting called no question about it and I am positive it is of no shock to her, the coach, or her family. It's been talked about by everyone for along time now. It appears, at least for now, that it has finally started to catch up and I just hate to see ANY young lady suffer because of what COULD have been if an adult had made the change awhile back. Will she go on and pitch in the Olympics, YES, most likely and I believe it won't matter there with International rules but I far from an expert on those so could be wrong. I just hate to see a talent like that not helped or told earlier in her career to do it the right way.
Lastly, I could start a new thread on this but Aleshia Ocasio continues to amaze me. That kid has impressed me in so many ways, so many positions, but I love that kid on the mound most and then with a bat in her hand. Walton is more than lucky to have her and she is nothing but class.
