Haven't posted on here in a while, but when dd was young this forum was more like a support group for me. I posted many videos of her hitting and pitching as well as shared stories of success and heartbreak.
Well now, dd is a freshman and about a month into her first season. I feel guilty bragging on her to people I know so once again I'm turning to this board.
We live in a small town in southern Illinois and play in class 2A. To be honest there has been a lot of anticipation for this season, by us, coaches, and locals. Many have watched her grow as we have been heavily involved in local and travel ball. Especially after she led our Jr High team to it's first ever SIJHSAA finals appearance (we lost).
As expected dd was the opening day starting pitcher and (to our surprise) batting 4th. She has always been a good hitter but not for power.
Our season started out rocky. Our HC had the brilliant foresight to schedule 3 of the toughest
teams in our area. So, we quickly found ourselves 0-3!Then DD picked up her first complete game shutout. She now has 2 of them and we are 6-5. Winners of 5 of our last 6 and 2-0 in our conference.
I know how subjective High School stats can be but I wanted to share some of her numbers. I don't really know how to find out how she stacks up against others in our area but we are quite proud
She is second on the team in batting average and rbis, with a .500 avg and 15 rbis. in 40 at bats. She has 20 hits(mostly singles) and only struck out twice( and she has faced several future college pitchers, a couple low level D1s) along with 5 walks.
In the circle she has thrown 59.1 innings with a 5-4 record, with 46 strikeouts, 22 walks, and 6 hit batters. She has a 3,067 ERA( which is coming down since the rough first week) and opponents are batting .285. She is throwing first pitch strikes 70% of the time but Given up 7 homeruns (4 in one game, wind was blowing out about 15mph) She's been clocked hitting 60mph but cruises around 58 with decent movement.
I don't know how the season will end but I couldn't be more proud of the kid. Every game you see her growing, getting better and better( of course there are the occasional innings where she looks like a freshman).
