Earned run question

Situation R2 1 out.

Routine grounder to SS. Easy play at first would get Batter but she decides do try and get runner who had gotten off 2nd too far. Throws and runner is safe.

Easy scoring FC on batter. Next batter K's for 2 outs.

The next batter hits a triple 2 runs score. Are they earned or unearned. I'm pretty sure they are still earned but the argument could be made that they would have been out of the inning had they just thrown the player out at first.

Not an expert, IMHO assuming R2 got on with a hit, walk, or hbp, that runner is charged to P. Runner who reached on FC not charged to P. The argument of out of the inning if they had made the right choice (in hindsight) not the same as making an error.

Fielder's choice refers to a variety of plays involving an offensive player reaching a base due to the defense's attempt to put out another baserunner, or the defensive team's indifference to his advance.
Earned Run is any run that scores against a pitcher without the benefit of an error or a passed ball.
An earned run shall be charged against a pitcher when a runner scores because of a safe hit, sacrifice hit, sacrifice fly, stolen base, putout, fielder’s choice, base on balls, hit batter, balk or wild pitch (even when the wild pitch is a third strike), provided that in each case it is before the defensive team has had an opportunity to make a third putout.

The situation you described would indicated the ball in play would be scored a FC and both runs earned.
