Arizona team batting average is .361 with assorted bats

IMO, a team that spent almost $354,000 on its softball program in 2012 can afford to buy bats that their hitters prefer to swing.

I assume that the schools get $ from the bat companies too.

I don't think all teams necessarily want or need a bat sponsor. I was speaking to a D1 coach. She said they don't need bat sponsors or glove sponsors. They just get every player whatever it is they need. Every player can order whatever bat they want and whatever glove they want and the school will get it for them.

I would think only if they use that company's bats exclusively. I suspect some programs feel they have been burned by inferior equipment in seasons past and choose to forego the cash to avoid a repeat occurrence.
