Arizona team batting average is .361 with assorted bats

The Cats have led the nation in batting average for a couple weeks (yes, I am a Wildcats fan). And two of their power hitters are at or near the top with home runs. The interesting thing is that the team uses an assortment of bats. A couple players even use a couple different bats from game to game. Here's a quick break down:

Alex Lavine (slapper), .459, 0 HR
Kellie Fox (power), .444, 12 HR
Hallie Wilson, (leadoff), .404, 6 HR
Chelsea Goodacre (power), .330, 13 HR

Kelsey Rodriguez (11 doubles), .462, 2 HR
Courtney Rodriguez (8 doubles), .364, 0 HR
Chelsea Suitos (slapper), .356, 0 HR and sometimes swings a Xeno
Cynthia Pelayo (PH that's 5 for 6), .833, 1HR

Xeno
Katiyana Mauga (power), .364, 9 HR
Lauren Young (power), .275, 5 HR
Estela Pinon (pitcher batting 1 for 2), .500, 0 HR

CF6
Mo Mercado (power), .287, 6 HR and sometimes swings a Mako

I noticed the variety of bats as my DD and I watched our recording of the Wildcats stomping the snot out of Oregon last night. Oregon is all Worth. It was my DD that noticed it first as she was asking what each bat was.

I saw that too....pretty rare for a large D1 team to not have a bat sponsor.

The home field is definitely an advantage for for Arizona. They swept Oregon State this past weekend, who in turn took 2 of 3 from Arizona State the week before in Corvalis.

Saw the Arizona State v. Stanford game the other night on my computer. Finished 16-15. Both teams used LS bats. ASU - all players used Xeno. Stanford - 3 girls used Xenos (including a girl who hit two homers) and the rest used LXTs. Great night for LS bats. Lots of homeruns.

Is it worth the $350????

I saw that too....pretty rare for a large D1 team to not have a bat sponsor.

IMO, a team that spent almost $354,000 on its softball program in 2012 can afford to buy bats that their hitters prefer to swing.
