I got one too. Very nice to have for sure!
So by coincidence, last Sunday at our 14U friendlies, I saw a dad using the Ball Coach radar and asked him about it. He said it was very accurate. BTW the mostly 1st year 14U pitchers were throwing around 51-53mph. Not over powering by any means. I have a feeling that most pitchers in practice will get a few mph more since they can relax and work on throwing hard, where in games to live batters, they may let up a little to gain some more accuracy?
Very good and handy little device. We use it mostly in the cage measuring throw downs to second and exit speed off of the Tee. But we also use it during game sometimes. Very good for measuring differential between fastball and offspeed stuff.

I just wanted to provide some specific details and background on the Ball Coach radar since people were asking. We designed the original Classic version of Pocket Radar as a general purpose radar gun that made an instantaneous reading when you TAP the red button or repeating measurements when you hold the button down. This is easy to use when the moving object is in motion for several seconds or more. The problem with using it for softball or baseball is that the ball is only in the air for about 1/2 a second and it slows down significantly in that time due to the air resistance. We had many MLB and top college coaches tell us that they really loved the size of the Pocket Radar but would like to have a version that is designed for baseball and softball. So we went back and added a lot more technology inside the new Ball Coach version that now makes it much easier to use for ball speeds. With the Ball Coach radar, all you do is hold the button down and it automatically tracks the ball in flight and always shows the fastest speed right at the release point. Unlike the Classic model, it is specifically designed as a softball or baseball radar. We also added a lot of other features based on feedback from coaches. The Ball Coach also adds technology to find the ball exit speed off the bat on a well hit line-drive, even if you are hitting into a net 5 feet away. This is something the Classic could not do. The Ball Coach also adds 25 deep recall memory and a new Continuous-on / Auto-trigger mode so trainers can focus on the athlete and not on the radar gun. The accuracy spec on the Ball Coach is +/- 1 MPH and this has been independently tested and verified by the police radar test laboratory. People usually do not believe me when I tell them this, but this is actually more accurate than the $1200 Pro Stalker gun which is factory specified at +/- 3% of the reading. Please don't take my word for it, look it up yourself on the Stalker web-site at the specifications tab. The Ball Coach radar has now become the official testing radar for all of the NFCA camps and also the top combine events. It is being used to evaluate throwing strength, ball exit speed on hitting as well as pitching speeds.
