Did anybody else catch the Alabama game on WatchESPN on Wednesday? What the heck is up with their signs?
The catcher gets the call from the dugout, checks her armband, gives the sign to the pitcher in a conventional matter. But, after that, she would go through a wild series of gyrations with her throwing hand touching her knees, shoulders, sides, and head.
To me, it was incredibly distracting and further slowed the game down. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the additional signals were for. Maybe to give the outfielders some idea what pitch was being thrown but then the conventional signals wouldn't be necessary.
Any ideas?
