8 year old new pitcher pitching too high

These guys are all right, but let's not get too technical with an 8yo. If the release is late, it may be that the girl is just trying so hard that she is squeezing really hard and in turn is holding on to the ball too long making it a late release.

First try and have her loosen her grip. If that doesn't work then start looking at the above mechanical issues.

I don't think that 8 is too young to start teaching good mechanics. The younger ones might take a little longer, but not half as long as an older student with a few seasons of ingrained HE. I believe it's ok to teach them good mechanics from the beginning and not assume they can't get it. Find the cues that click.
