33 or 34?

I'm 17 years old, and 5' 5". I only play social ball, but am looking at some bats on eBay. My current bat is a cheapo 33in 24oz
I've been looking at a 33/23 Miken, and have tried it out (friend has the same bat)
My question is, should I go for the 33in bat, or look for a 34? Considering the 33 ends above my wrist, I was thinking a 34 would be just too long.

The rule of thumb I use is the knob of the bat comes to your wrist. If the 33 inch bat ends above the wrist, it's probably too long for you already. I'd either go to a 32 inch, or stay with the 33 and choke up. Having too long of a bat can make for an awkward swing.

I attended a coaches’ clinic at the University of Alabama 3 years ago, the staff advised a 34 inch bat as soon as a player could swing one that length. They make different weights for the 34 inch.
