We're 3 days into a 4 day tournament and I've live streamed 7 games without any issues. Here's some things I've learned:
- Using a special landscaping shade fabric to shade the camera from the sun is a lifesaver. My wife had some extra fabric from her garden that I cut up to drape over the camera. We've been in high 80s to mid 90 weather all weekend long and the camera hasn't skipped a beat! It gets hot, but not extremely hot where it gets too hot to touch (like my GoPro 6). The fabric is advertised to block 90% of the UV rays and be 33% cooler under the fabric than the ambient air (take that with a grain of salt!).

- Data usage: I'm using 1.5 - 2 gigs worth of data for a 1.5 hour game.
- The streaming platform we've been using, YourGameCam.com (YGC) has been terrific! Sound and video quality has been outstanding. Integration with GameChanger scoreboards is available and works! Watch on a PC, phone, tablet. We have families from all over the US watching and they are very satisfied. Support is very responsive. I'd love to try SidelineHD, but YGC will have to do until SidelineHD is put into production for the general public.
- Streaming Platform Cost: YGC plan is $55/month. Very worth it if you're looking for quality streaming with GC Scoreboard integration. I explored other free options, but you get what you pay for.
- Streaming Data Cost: I bought a Verizon MiFi LTE router for $200. Monthly plan (no contract) is $50/Month for 30GB/Month. With each game using a max of 2GB worth of data, I can stream 15 games per month. If I need additional data, I can purchase 3GB for $20.
I'd love to hear other lessons learned from anyone else that is streaming their games.
Here's my set up with the landscaping shade fabric draped over the GoPro. I cut it out so that there is a square notch in the front for the lens. This will help keep the sun off of it if the front of the camera is facing the sun.
In the pouch I have my external battery charger and Verizon MiFi LTE router. I ended up having to take the router out of the pouch and keep it with me under the shade so it could get better air flow. The battery charger surprisingly did not get hot at all.
