2B falls down on a routing pop fly....how would you score it?

Did anyone see the play in the Oregon vs. Florida game where the 2nd baseman was slowly back peddling for a routine pop fly and falls down? She tried to get up and make a basket catch at the same time, but the ball drops and two runs score. Official scorer called it a double with two RBIs. Even the announcers were surprised by the scoring.

Florida was up 2-0 at the time and went on to win 4-0, so the play did not effect the outcome of the game, but if I was the pitcher (or the pitchers parents) I would not be happy about being charged with two earned runs on that play!

Broadcasters had mention the sun as being a determination by the official scorer. I would have scored it as a 2b error.

Maybe I changed my mind. This is from the NCAA rule book on what constitutes a hit.

Didn't see the play, but based on description, the correct call is a double, for better or for worse. ...

Fact that the announcers were surprised is not surprising.

2B in MLB, 2B in NCAA, if you want to make up your own rules on what is a hit or an error, go for it.
