Lia,

When we started indoor training we first did the movements listed in my first post without weights for a couple of weeks. We also did less reps once weights were introduced - building up to what I posted.

What we're starting to transition into, since she will be doing more pitching and hitting practice, is two sets of the above interspersed with either 25 JJs or 50 reps of jump rope between each exercise. I'm thinking doing many of the exercises while balanced on one leg works the core, but I may incorporate one or two core specific exercises.

Do ya'll have any thought on using P90x. I have been using it 5 days a week as part of my high school teams workout. It combines many of the things everyone is mentioning. The only thing is it has to be maintained.

Hey we love P90X. When the weather is bad we pop in a video. We replace the pullups with either pushups or situps and get a great core workout in. I found the complete set of videos on ebay for less than $50 and they have been a great addition to our softball specific workouts.

Those are good modifications since you're going into more sports specific training. Single leg workouts are always recommended because as you said it works the core and balance of the athlete and the movement of athletes entail them to carry their weight on a single leg. Core exercises which has twisting will be a good addition

I bought P90X off of ebay last year and it has all of these reps in it. I bought it for myself to get into shape but I told my husband that alot of it would be great for strength training for softball girls.
