New to this pitching thing. Daughter said she wanted to try it, so what better place to look. We've learned a lot in the last few weeks. Thanks to all the very knowledgeable people here. Any feedback would be appreciated.

See definitely has some skills. Can swing a bat too. I would focus on BI and the release point.

The swing you might have seen is her older sister. We are definitely trying to use the information found here. My biggest question has to do with the spin she is putting on the ball. It doesnt have the 12/6 rotation. It spins more like a curveball or a drop curve. Is that becauae she is releasing too late?

she really does look like a great natural athlete, very smooth. That spin your are seeing probably has to do with how forward facing she is at release. As Riseball noted, she could use some BI (brush interference). But in order to get it she will need to let her body open up more during the pitch and adduct into her body on the downswing. This lets the hand get more inside the ball at release. For a definition and discussion of these things just search the site for adduction, brush interference etc and a lot of good info will pop up. For a great thread, and a PHD in Kinesiology, read the drive mechanics thread to get good info on how to help her drive and get into a more open position for that adduction and BI to work its magic.

My guess is she will pick up on it quickly, she has so much going for her already I think she will be very good very quickly.

Surely you mean months!

She's doing very well--I really like what she's doing with her whip--pulling the ball around the circle. In support of riseball and JJ's recommendations, I'd second spending some time checking out javasource's videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfxecAGYoi5Hav_GIfV47yA to improve her drive mechanics and spend some time focusing on improved plant resistance (also addressed in JS's videos and the http://www.discussfastpitch.com/softball-pitching/18135-drive-mechanics.html sticky.)

Nice work!

Problem 1: Front side resistance.

Front side resistance simply means that the body should stop moving forward after release. Notice that your DD is stepping forward after release. Your DD's left leg swing around in front of her body.

Have your DD watch this video and tell her to look closely at Cat's feet. She never lets her left foot come in front of her right foot.

A video of Amanda Scarborough...again, notice the location of her feet after the pitch.
