to the OP- My belief is firmly rooted in Newton's 5 law of pitching

Looseness=Speed. The best energy transfer is going to occur with a noodle arm that has the upper arm adducting into the side hard and the forearm brush against the hip causing the loose wrist to fire the ball. I do not think the human wrist can flick at a greater velocity that the arm can whip the loose wrist.

To quote our beloved leader and I/R cult founder who apparently has gone Howard Hughes recluse on us, hopefully not with the long fingernails and pee in jars though.

Snap isn't a bad word as long as you think wet towel. The human body is incapable of wrist snapping a ball to 77 MPH (Abbott) using forearm muscles.
