So what is worse than choosing a team with a coach whose daughter is a pitcher???

Maybe a coach whose daughter is a pitcher AND he recruited 5 pitchers total AND the pitching coach is full on H/E even though he should know better because he used to work along side an I/R coach!!

I concur. The only time your kid will be in the circle is if she walks through it on her way to the OF. LOL, just kidding but not really. It's not even Sept. You probably only paid a deposit, ask for it back, tell him he doesn't want the aggravation of 5 pitchers and their parents.

+1 on running for the hills!!! We passed up the opportunity to play with a very good team because they had 5 rostered pitchers and DD would make #6. We instead chose to go with a startup team with a 3 pitcher rotation. Less trophies but more circle time and more chance for development.

I know this team...it was my DDs first 12U team...we lasted 2 lies and 3 weeks on the team before throwing in the towel. HC and both AC had pitching daughters (I found out after I joined)....4 months later they were posting on Heybucket before the TCS world series for....drum roll please....a pitcher.

I knew his daughter was a pitcher. I knew he was planning to have 4 total. And I had seen them and knew where mine stacked up. But then #5 came on the other night and she is significant competition for circle time. And then we met the pitching coach . . . I was hopeful from his background but since then he has taken a significant turn for the worse. Tryouts are pretty much done here so I think we may be stuck for fall ball but depending on how this goes we will definitely be looking during the winter :(

I am glad to say that we were able to tell the pitching coach right up front that we just moved away from what he is teaching and are not planning to return to it. So we got that out of the way right from the beginning . . . so maybe we won't need to decide they may boot us :)

And yet my 16u team might have to split because I can't find any pitching. Why do people let their daughters be the 3rd 4th or 5th pitcher when they can be a 1 or 2 pitcher and get lots of circle time with a different team.

Sorry to hear that. My question is why a head coach would want 5 pitchers on his team if he wants to maximize pitching time for his daughter. Why not just take 3 pitchers and eliminate some of the competition.

I know you probably know this but the allure to be on a team with well known "name XXX" so that the coaches that come see team XXX can see MY DD too is mesmerizing (not accepting that DD may be on the bench or not in prime position most the time). Not saying this is the case for you here but it was for us at 14U. It's a very easy mistake to make when you're a young emotional DD parent.
