it's so true...when you think about the guts it takes for a little kid to stand in the middle of a circle on a field with everyone watching and put herself out there like that, it is pretty impressive. I know that I get wrapped up in performance a lot and forget that before DD became a pitcher, she was very shy and really never put herself in a position of being the center of attention. But she goes out there game after game and performs to the best of her ability. That is pretty impressive, and she really does perform TO THE BEST OF HER ABILITY....she usually does better in the circle than she does at practice in terms of location, speed and accuracy. To do this with all those eyes watching is pretty impressive. I know this is not unique, I see it in pitcher after pitcher, game after game, but for all of them to be able to get out there and do their thing, especially at the young ages, says something about their mettle. Add to the fact that 90% have psycho pitching parents and it makes it even more impressive.

Last weekend at the triple crown tourney in So Cal in the semi final 12u a great young pitcher held us scoreless for 6 innings nursing an 1-0 lead for all six.in the bottom of the 7th we were lucky enough and scored two points for the walk off. As the father of the other teams pitcher as all the fans were going nuts around me hollering I looked in the circle at that warrior /little girl while she broke down, and I could not help but feel sad. I just wanted to go out there and tell her how impressed I was with that gutsy outing.(our awesome coaches did) I know the whole it takes a team thing but I've never met a good pitcher that didn't put the entire load on her shoulders alone. It just never ceases to amaze me the amount of pressure and poise a 12 year old girl can possess.

Bucket you are spot on! With great performances like you saw, its a great win, parents/fans going nuts, there is always a lil something in your gut and heart that goes out to that little girl. We all know what it is, we all been on the other side of those tough losses which your kid puts it all out there.

I have two daughters that pitch. When you look at the work it takes to be able to pitch at their level and then
their ability to go out to that circle and pitch under that pressure, it is nothing short of amazing! But they
must love it cause they are looking forward to getting out there again.

I also understand about feeling for the other team. I was an assistant coach at the 10U level during an important
game where my daughter struck out 10 girls over five innings and gave up one hit. We ended up winning 1-0,
scoring only one run because the other team's defense was stellar. During the after game congratulations I saw
how disappointed they looked. I ended up telling them how impressed we were with their team's defense and
wished them luck with their next game. They seemed to brighten up a bit after that.
