I'm going to miss watching her pitch. Ricketts may have been the stud and she overpowered the hitters but I loved how crafty Gascoine was and how she could mix it up. Never thought she got her due...any other school and she would have been up for player of the year.

Gascoine was definitely fun to watch. One of my recent favs was Blaire Luna. I followed her years at Texas in amazement. Great model pitcher with some incredible off-speed, rise, and drop pitches. She'd make batters look ridiculous at times. Texas will miss her.

Loved watching her too. I have a soft spot for the wicked spinners.

Let me get this straight here. I thought I heard someone here say all you need is up, down and a change up. But, if you add an off speed and a curveball to that mix in college it is acceptable and fun to watch???? Then why is it that if a pitcher at a lower level does the exact same things you are called a 'Junk ball pitcher' and are looked down upon on this board and should never be given a spot on a team???

Hey wait a second, I thought throwing a curveball was not acceptable at ANY level of competition!

I wish folks would make up their minds.

And 'I' am the one that they say confuses people here??? Uh huh, riiiight.

Since I coached her from the time she was 10, I should be able to answer your question; but if you're strictly talking about her change-up you'd have to ask her or her dad, Gary, who came up with it on their own. The change I taught her was even better: ))

Would you agree that Michelle Gascoigne's wind-up and delivery never significantly changed thru out the whole game. I thought she put on an absolute clinic for the whole world to see and I believe her Oklahoma pitching coach, Missy Lombardi, should get most of the credit on top of Michelle's and her dad. I might also add that the most impressive part of her career was in her ability to cope with and thrive in a back-up role for 4 years!!!!! Absolutely incredible!
