Would you agree that Michelle Gascoigne's wind-up and delivery never significantly changed thru out the whole game.

Wait........You mean this pitch made hitters look stupid WITHOUT "half wind-ups", "elbow flairs", "fairy-wave follow throughs", "circle pauses" and the rest of the crap someone wrote a book about???

I guess that's what MOST people here have been saying every time we read about some of the rediculous suggestions regarding all of the "sneaky pitching tactics" I've listed above........

Effective pitchers don't need "gimmicks" to get hitters out..........Never have.........Never will............

I thought she put on an absolute clinic for the whole world to see and I believe her Oklahoma pitching coach, Missy Lombardi, should get most of the credit on top of Michelle's and her dad.

I might also add that the most impressive part of her career was in her ability to cope with and thrive in a back-up role for 4 years!!!!! Absolutely incredible!

Absolutely the unsong hero of the team!!! Not just her on the field performance but also how she has been a mentor to the incoming pitchers. Everything I hear is nothing but praise.

I would love to be able to clone Gascoigne but mirror her clone as a rhp and see what the effectiveness difference would be.

I can only wonder......

DD throws a curve change, she holds it with three knuckles last ones on her hand, the first finger on the seams and gives it a twist like a curve and mixes it in with a backspin change. When it’s working right it is a great pitch. It works best when it breaks away and down from a right hander. She developed it on her own, or what I mean she was not taught the pitch by anyone.

She was pitching against one of the top gold teams in Atlanta threw it 4 straight times in one inning and had three outs. When she gets it too high it can get ugly.

Like many change-ups, the hand is on the opposite side of the ball (palm facing 3B for a lefty) as it passes by the rear hip ... this has her 'desequencing', i.e., leading with the forearm and removing the whipping (as in brush assisted whip).

An infinite number of possibilities can happen once a ball leaves the pitchers hand… The art of pitching to me is when a pitcher makes oneself look like she’s doing the same thing over and over with little or no obvious change in motion. My point, Hitters just can’t find a mirror to react. I give the fingers a thumbs up on these gifted athletes.
No doubt about it, the best pitchers have the best timing that hitters can’t feel.
New to post old old enough to read :)
