FPT … thank you. Now I see the stacking you are speaking about. This girl is stacked in her ‘stance’ … I thought you were speaking of becoming stacked as part of the coil as Longoria does.

Back to this girl … you have a good point. She is far from being dynamically balanced in her stance. Probably the first order of business is to clean that up. Start off dynamically balanced and the body will fight hard to remain dynamically balanced. On the other hand, do as this girl is doing, and start off unbalanced, then the body will divert effort away from the task at hand to rebalance the body.

At heel plant.

Ask yourself if there is any possible way to get the barrel to the ball without blowing the front shoulder out? The barrel is trapped behind the shoulders. She can already sense this by heel plant because her shoulders have already begun to open compared to the other hitter.

Her lower body is not bad at this point.

The young girl externally rotates her front foot into heel plant ... ala "Kentucky Stretch". In other words ... she is bleeding the power from her rear hip. In a sense, she has never found the power in her rear hip, and she is seeking another source of power.

Get this kid dynamically balanced in their posture as Amy suggested ... and see if this kid can learn to coil and load her rear hip appropriately. Give her an opportunity to find the correct power source, and perhaps she'll stop using an alternative power source.

How is the overhand throw ?

When she breaks her hands for overhand throw, does she have elbows up and palms down or palms up and elbows down ?

Wellphyt and ffs can show you info (Hodge) on the right way to break hands.

Does she cock the hips ?

Info on this is harder to come by, but trying to understand Williams ideas on hip cock is a good way to go with throwing and swing being similar.

Much easier to learn these actions in a good overhand throw, then you can apply this to learning the swing.

It looks like your dd could start out with a little more tilt, hands could be a bit higher, and her shoulders are too level when she swings which is probabally why she is rolling her wrist. Bat appears to be way too heavy (she is actually drooping bat head right before launch). You might try a walk thru hitting drill and focus on gettn her to drop back shoulder into slot and maintain palm up/down until after extension. also it looks like her wt may be back over her back foot. cant see her foot angle but sometimes if you have her point it at a 90 or even slight pigeon toe the back foot it seems to help with this.

Dragon ... does the girl being compared to start out with the tilt you are recommending ... or is her 'tilt' being established dynamically?

I see a significant difference in the legs. One starts off dynamically balanced and the other does not.

Dragon ... here's a side view. See if you see the posture being set dynamically. I duplicated a few frames to help highlight the difference between her initial posture and her posture prior to rotation.

Good observations and suggestions! Thanks!

Worked with her a bit today trying to get her feel the rear hip loading. Not sure I have a good way to convey that but she's working on it:

Lighter bat seemed to have helped some but still tucks the rear elbow. View from behind:
