I believe this tee was used too 'train' to hit the low ball/diagonal barrel path.
The Infini‐TEE ™‐The low ball diagonal plane tee.

Might not want to use this tee for all your swing training....just saying. JMHO.

To reach lower pitches, hitters will tilt their bodies and have a more diagonal bat angle at contact. ...

What are the theories on those variables?

That is, what is a healthy body tilt and bat angle, and what are signs that you've got too much or not enough?

How do you coach hitters on this issue to ensure they have the right mix?

I see three variables here.

One is bat angle. It appears bat angle fairly well matches the angle of the front (left) forearm in all cases.

Two is shoulder tilt. Lower the pitch, the more the tilt.

Third is hand path. This is tricky for me. You don't want to drop the hands prematurely (ie, level the hands to the pitch), but hands need the freedom to ''go get the ball'' when it's low as opposed to a strict ''pivot from the shoulder'' approach.

How does that sound?

To relate back to the thread that you initially replied to in your OP ....

Do you believe this here captures the intent of understanding a diagonal swing path?

I'd say there's premature hand dropping/bat leveling, so no. Although it's a high pitch, so I wouldn't anticipate much tilt. Not that you asked about tilt, per se.

Not here.

That is what I seen on all of the posted swings. Level to the ground swings on pitches up in the zone. Hands dropping on lower pitches. No tilting of the body. There are other issues with the newer swing but, dad didn't ask for opinions.
