I'd like to get the opinions of others here on what my best option for an infielders face mask would be. My DD will be going into 10U next year. I'd like to weigh out the pros and cons of the safety, visibility and comfort. Thanks all.

Never really weighed options picked up a Rip-It 3 or 4 years ago and she has worn it ever since if she plays the corners, no complaints

I don't think that you can go wrong with either Rip-It or Schutte. Just pick the one that is the best fit for your daughter.

The plastic masks are generally lighter, but my girls did not like any they tried because the bars are thicker and they said they interfere with their vision.

I think Ripit are the lightest metal ones unless you get the expensive titanium Schutt.

I don't think there are established testing standards on the masks for safety, so you are relying on the individual manufacturer there.

The Schutt have a softer forehead pad and chin pad, which 2 of my 3 girls preferred to the Ripit.

The masks are adjustable, but all the different brands fit slightly differently, so it is best if you can try them on, teammates are a good source of masks you can try temporarily.

My DDs prefer the Schutt, as well.

The Schutt comes down lower on the side/jaw line so offers a little more protection if they were to turn their head. My dd has worn both I think prefers the Schutt which she just got this year. I think she had problems with the Rip it because the straps got stretched out so it didn't fit as well.

My daughter refused to use the plastic kind. Said she couldn't see. We got her a Rip it and she wears it 100% of the time in the field, no problem.

My DD has been wearing Rip-It since she was 8 when we test fit them back then she said it was by far the most comfortable -
She hated the Plastic, she said it seemed heaver and and was harder to breath in. Shes 14 now and has used nothing else -

We didn't see the Schutt titanium till after we baught this last Rip-It. At this point I'd assume this ripit will last the rest of the way -
