Thanks, DL. ...

Why individual over team? Not doubting you, but I'm going to have to explain the differences to a travel organization that will be making these choices. Is it more expensive? Would it cover a pickup player?

Thanks again.

Individual registration includes insurance and travels with the player. If she participates in more than one ASA team, she only needs to register once, whereas every team with a different roster must register as a new team if the roster changes (not including an instance where a pick-up player is permitted).

Bumping this. What's it costing for a team this year? I've been trying to get my coach to sign up for ASA tournaments and she is saying that it's too expensive for registration and insurance. I went to the ASA site, and of course, got a great message:
RegisterASA will be down for seasonal maintenance starting Aug. 27, 2015. We will be back online on or before Sept. 1 2015. If you have any questions, please contact your local association.
Yeah. Ooops.

Georgia
It covers you in any tournament - even non-ASA and is required for any ASA qualifier. If you need more help, just let me know.

I would like to point out that this past season PGF no longer "accepts" ASA insurance and teams that plan to play PGF events must go through a similar registration process on the PGF website.

The register ASA website does this every year around this time. It's maintenance from what I understand.

ASA registration and insurance is on par with PGF. As I recall the insurance for ASA was a few dollars more than PGF but the registration for ASA was cheaper.

Having said that we are going with PGF this year. The ASA state director from Indiana is hard to get ahold of and it just isn't worth it. You need them to make changes or add additional insureds.

We payed PGF last year and we had ASA insurance and had zero problems.
PGF's insurance requirement varies by event. Last year, they only required PGF insurance for their Nationals. Their recent emails indicate PGF insurance will also be required for National Qualifiers this year, however their National Director couldn't confirm/deny it.

Very good, thanks again. ... Sounds like it might vary quite a bit from state to state. I was quoted $23 for individual in Georgia. That might've been the policy + ASA registration. Not sure.
Individual ASA registration includes insurance.

Registration cost varies by local state/metro association. The NC ASA site says they only charged $18 per individual in 2014.

ASA teams need to register with the local association where most of their players reside (exception: they reside in a county along the border between a state and metro association). Do most of your players reside in GA or NC?

I've never understood why anyone would think competing organizations would honor the other's product. Even if PGF said they would honor ASA's insurance, what makes you think ASA/Bollinger(RPS) would honor it? There liability and accident insurance covers team members at supervised ASA activities. Don't think a PGF is going to meet that condition of coverage.

True for ASA team insurance and knowledgeable non-ASA events won't accept it. However, ASA's individual registration insurance does cover them in non-ASA events as long as they are playing on an individually registered team.
