The easiest way I've found to share video with individuals or the team is to upload clips to YouTube and share the link to the video. I use the "unlisted" privacy setting so the videos can't be found by searching. It avoids video format issues, it's relatively private (though it doesn't have to be), it's free, it works for game-length videos, and most people know how to use YouTube these days.

Back on the dirt...
Got game footage from games this past weekend. Want to clip/snip out plays and send to respective players. For example, girl hit home run and want to send the clip to her. What is best way to do this?

For short clips i use the gopro app, cut it to 5,15, or 30 second clips and send to the player via email or text. I now use splice to put the clips together and send as one video. You can also post them to youtube.

So just emailing players short video clips is not a good idea? Half the parents don't want it on YouTube I guess they want the video clip directly. Was wondering if emailing video clips will overload my email account. Lol

This is where the HERO5 and the REMO wireless remote come in handy. When the game is recording, you can say to the remote "GoPro Highlight" and it will place a highlight tag in that spot on the timeline. Then, at some point in the future when you are not recording (between innings works really well), using the smartphone app, you can navigate to the point on the timeline where the tag is marked and clip up to a 30 second segment. It will store that on your phone. So you can upload to YouTube, Email, or Text as you could any other file. Text will reduce the quality of the video, however. I think you can use the same process on the Hero4. But since WiFi is wonky on cameras older then the 5, we have not tested it.

Reading some of the comments above, as was mentioned, you can list the video as "unlisted" in YouTube. This means it can't be found from a search. You have to have the direct link to play it. You can also list it as "Private". And the person has to be explicitly allowed to view the link (which is kind of a pain to setup). I push for Unlisted for families that want me to share video. If they say they don't want it online, I make them wait until I put the videos on a spare external hard drive that the families pass around.

Email might work for you, but there can be some hurdles. Video files tend to be large so they do require a lot of space on an email server. Who knows what filter settings someone may be using. The bigger issue for me was file compatibility or system requirements. After the file is delivered, someone always seemed to come back and say "my ipad/pc/android/smart tv/mac/or whatever won't open your video." Uploading to YouTube solved that issue for me.

Following...my DW just volunteered videoing responsibilities for the team. We have a GoPro and were wondering best option to share highlight videos. Our team has players and parents with varying levels of computer knowledge (as we do). If people are suggesting to share as unlisted videos on YouTube, should we make a separate channel for each player and put unlisted videos there? We were thinking to keep each players videos separate as some have many hilight videos and others have minimal thus far for various reasons. I have 3 tournaments worth of videos want to start doing highlight videos but also was waiting until I found the best way to share with parents. Right now using GoPro Hero 4 Silver.

I only have one channel on YouTube. I don't think you need more to address your concerns. I create a team playlist for videos that are for the whole team. When I share a link to the playlist, the team can see all those unlisted videos and only those unlisted videos.

If I want to share a video with less than the whole team, it is uploaded to my channel, not a part of any shared playlist, and unlisted. Then I share the link with those I choose. Only people with the shared link can watch the video or even know that it is on my channel.

If the receiver shares the link via social media or otherwise, then it will be out there. Apart from that, no one can tell how many highlights I share or with whom on my one channel.

Is there a way to post video clips to a team YouTube account where the videos are unlisted and have the players down their own video? Parents requested individual videos as some only want to share with coaches and nobody else?

I'm not sure I understand the question. But if the question is about making video available only to coaches and individual players, that can be done.

If I take video of 9 players in the batting cage, I upload 9 separate unlisted videos. For the video of player 1, I share the link to that video with the coaches and player 1, and so on. Coaches get 9 links, each player gets one. Coaches see every video while each player only sees her own.

You can provide links to playlists or to individual videos. If you put those 9 videos in a playlist, then the coaches only need one link to the playlist to be able to see every video in the playlist. Even if the videos are in a playlist, if you only provide player 1 with a link to her own video(not the playlist), she can only see her own video.

I think this is what I am looking for from my previous post above. Will try this and post how it went...might have a few extra questions lol.
