What was said is that she played for a small club until she went to the Firecrackers and he thought she was under recruited because she was on a smaller club team. But she committed while on an OK team. Okay.

MW, an SOB? WOW, must be a Bruins fan. lol
Heard it from the dad of one of his best players.

BTW, this is only his 5th year at Oregon, so almost all the recruits of the prior years were by his predecessor(s).

It's embarassing that neither OK pitcher nor the TX pitcher have been able to fill Gascoigne's void and Gasso is now relying on position players, Casey and Pendley, to do the job. I hope Gasso has another transfer like Stevens for next year.

There's a great pitcher from the Kansas City area heading to OU next year; Gasso's had her commitment in the bank for several years now.

A big lefty pitcher from Kansas City is coming to OU in the fall....been committed there since she was a freshman in HS

Yes, Paige Parker made quite an impression at 2010 ASA/USA 14U Nats in Moline. However, I've seen some of the top 2013 recruits struggle this year at the major D1 level. Pitchers that excel at that level as freshmen are extremely rare (e.g. Ricketts, Escobedo, Traina).

If you look at the rosters for the current Top 10 D1 teams in the country, there are no state of Oklahoma players on the roster. If that state was really a hot bed for softball talent, the best teams in the country would be pursuing them big-time. For example, Mike White (#1 Oregon) has done a fabulous job of recruiting players from CA/AZ over the past 5 years. Is it possible that Gasso has had a hard time recruiting the top players and has to take the next best available players which might be coming from her state?

I'm not one to hash up old subjects...... BUT I was waiting for the season to end and get the final USA Today Coaches pole. I am basing this on top 25 teams at the end of the season. Regarding what area has the largest numbers is no contest, the top 4 are hands down by total numbers. After that it is all how you look at it. The next 4 are pretty close in total numbers. But like my original statement said OK can hold their own, per capita, with anyone. Looks like I was right, go figure. Here are total number of players from each state playing on a top 25 team. And for Cal and Tex having so many kids the numbers should be higher.

Total :
Cal 124
Tex 60
Fl 46
Az 31
Bama 26
Lois 23
OK 22
Ga 21

Players per capita:
OK 172,727
Bama 184,615
Louis 200,000
Az 209,677
Cal 258,064
Fl 391,304
TX 433,333
GA 476,190

It is changing as we speak, as the old numbers of the recent past are not the new numbers.

Who will win the College World Series this year. More and more are coming from the east coast.

So CA, AZ, have at it. But you have very little water and your player representation is declining. Call it climate change if you wish.

Th Southeast is gaining rapidly. To include TN, GA, AL, NC, and SC. Sure many not hotbeds now, but soon to be the place to play softball.

A couple of flaws in your analysis - you included all the roster fillers and used overall population numbers.

Let's look by state at the #players and the number of schools.
CA 124 - UCLA
TX 60 - Baylor, TX A&M
FL 46 - FL, FSU
AZ 31 - AZ, ASU
AL 26 - AL, Aub, So.AL
LA 23 - LSU, ULL
OK 22 - OK, Tulsa
GA 21 - GA

Take out the players without significant playing time and the smaller states would go down a lot.

CA's highly populated urban areas of LA and SF rarely produce players, so that drags down our per capita rates. OK ranks 4th in ASA JO registrations and their participation rate per capita is probably the highest. That alone makes OK a hot bed.

Let's rerun the calculations using ASA JO registrations from the 2014 JO Berth Report instead of overall population.

LA 14
AL 14.1
AZ 18
FL 88.7
TX 94
CA 95.4
GA 106
OK 160

Fastpitch is maturing across the country and that's made it impossible for the West to dominate like they did before.

Congrats to Charleston Southern on winning the Big South and getting their first berth to the NCAA tourney. How come NONE of the players are from SC? Is there a reason the locals don't go there?

19 of OK's 22 players are on two teams that are 13th (OK) & 19th (Tulsa) in the nation per latest NFCA Poll and these two conferences are BIG 12 and Conference USA that are not nearly as strong as the SEC and PAC-12. Let's see how these teams fair in the WCWS, if they make it?

The original post said the weather where they live is horrible and wanted to move to a region that had great weather and was a hot bed for fastpitch. You think Oklahoma meets this criteria...?
