I've been using iScore for a few years. I practiced using it during the off-season scoring college games that I recorded so that during the regular season I wouldn't get behind and miss something on the field. I also like the fact that game play by play can be streamed to the internet and anyone can watch for no extra charge.

I hear that gamechanger is a good app too, but I haven't used it.

I used gamechanger for the first time this weekend and liked it. BUT if you don't pay a monthly fee you are limited in what stats you can get. If you are looking for just the basic information then gamechanger is fine. I did purchase iscore this week ($9.99) and have played with it some. It looks like you get more stats and can go back and change players if you had someone out of position or missed a change on defense or pinch runner. I will use iscore next weekend and make a final decision from there.

I really like iscore much better than gamechanger. It was easier to use and easier to correct mistakes. I had two players flip flopped in the lineup and after the first inning I was able to go back and switch them and the at bats moved with the player. You get more stats than you would ever need and you can customize the stats that it spits out to meet your needs. I emailed the game stats to my email and it was laid out in an easy to read fashion. Going forward I will only use iscore.

We've used an electronic scorekeeping system for three years, and would never go back to keeping score with a pencil again. Initially we used Gamechanger, but switch to iScore for three reasons. First, the cost of Gamechanger got too high when we added up all the families that were trying to follow the games remotely. (iScore is free for them). Second, iScore is more capable/flexible in my opinion, but that flexibility does cause more taps to record each play. Third, I believe the stats are more robust, and more easily delivered via the team webpage option.

The one thing we haven't done is record type and location of each pitch. The system will allow that function, but I don't think it possible to do so without having two people score each game. One calling all pitches/plays, and one entering the data. Since we have only one scorekeeper, we record balls/strikes plus the other normal scoring information into iScore. If a second scorer is available, we record pitch type, called location, actual location and outcome using a paper system.

Ya I went full circle to having the ole pencil and book for the game in real time and later at night, with the game action not distracting me, I would enter the details into the electronics.

I just don't see any other way given my "admittedly year-old" memory of iScore & Gamechanger is that you can too easily get wrapped up in the middle of a game trying to undo something or fix a software crash. That feeling sucks when you get this tension in the middle of a ralleye and you just missing your DD hit a GS to ice it for your team (true story).

LOL.. yup i do it that way to.. Pencil and paper in real time, I use iScore later.. no app has the 'eraser' technology quite down yet..

For a team iScore is way better than game changer and cheaper too. The devs are really cool guys too. To be honest iScore was one of the main reasons I made my stat tracking app. iScore cant really be beat for team stats but if you are just looking to do personal stats for a few players its not that great. If you dont really want the complicated system of a whole team but still want indepth stats for batting pitching and fielding over a whole career (not just games and seasons) stats iScore falls short and thats why I created my an app (its also only about 1/4th the cost).

You can also get individual stats based on the games that have been scored. I didn't post the stats to the team website since I am not the HC and he has not instructed me to do so. I emailed him the stats and his response was "wow". If used properly and scored properly this can be a huge tool for the coach.

Times 2. Missed DD's first homerun (grandslam) with her first start on varsity "undoing" a miss step. But still love the iscore app.

Looks like the above codes have been used. So here is another set of free codes.

46TAPEMN73MT
9KN7AHP3W3XY
LJWLXAFT7J44

PS: For those of you who need help redeeming its as simple as opening your App Store app (on iphone, ipad or ipod) and clicking the feature tab (bottom left corner) and scrolling down til you see a redeem button. Click that and then enter the code and the app will start downloading for free.

all of these have been used.

Do any of these apps have the ability to distinguish between hard and weakly hit balls? For instance, does a hot shot or a dribbler to 3rd show the same way? Same with a liner or pop-fly...thanks

Yea very true you can get individual stats after the game (sorry if I made it sound like you couldnt). The problem I had with that app is that I didnt want to track everyone on the team or even score the game. I just wanted a simple quick way to track and see my personal stats and how I was improving game to game or season to season.

I will be the first to admit my app is not focused on the whole team (although I have had people use it for that). Mine is more focused on individual stats say a parent wants to track the progress of their DD. You can have unlimited users too say you have a few kids in baseball and some in softball you can track them all in diff user accounts.
